Wake up to a cleared driveway, a shoveled walk and salted steps. No 5 AM shoveling, no throwing your back out, no calling in late.
Frosty Snow Management clears residential driveways, walkways, steps and entries across the Capital Region on a two inch trigger, typically overnight or early morning. Seasonal contracts cover the entire winter for one price, and per-storm service is available for lighter needs.
The problem with shoveling your own driveway is not the shoveling. It is the timing. Snow arrives on its schedule, not yours, and it almost always finishes overnight, which means the choice is either getting up at 5 AM in the dark to clear it or being late for work.
Frosty Snow Management handles residential snow removal for homes across Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady and Saratoga counties. Your property is on a fixed route with the same operator all season. When accumulation hits the trigger, we come. You do not call, you do not text, you do not check whether we got the message.
Homeowners come to us for a lot of reasons. Some have a back that will not take another winter of it. Some travel for work and cannot risk an unshoveled walk while they are away. Some are managing a parent’s house from two states over. Some simply worked out that an hour of shoveling per storm across twenty storms is a weekend they would rather have back.
We map the driveway, mark anything a plow needs to avoid, and agree where snow gets stacked so it never blocks the garage, the walk or your sightline pulling out.
Your property is assigned to a route with a consistent operator. Nobody arrives in January having never seen your driveway before.
At two inches of accumulation the route runs. Overnight storms are handled before the morning commute. You do not need to call and ask.
A plow cannot clear a set of front steps. Crews finish walkways, steps and entries by hand and treat them so they do not glaze over.
If the municipal plow reblocks your apron after we have already cleared it, tell us and we return.
A seasonal contract covers every storm from the start of the season to the end for one price. In a heavy Capital Region winter that is the better value, and it puts you on the priority route. In a light winter you pay for insurance you did not fully use, the same as any other seasonal service.
Per-storm billing charges you only when it snows. It suits homeowners who can handle the small events themselves and only want help with the big ones, or who are new to the area and want to see a winter before committing.
Either way we will tell you which one makes sense for your driveway rather than pushing the one with the bigger number on it.
We work with a lot of households where snow removal is not optional. Older homeowners who should not be out there with a shovel. Families where both parents leave before daylight. Nurses and hospital staff on shift schedules that do not bend around weather. Landlords and second-home owners who need a property maintained from a distance. Anyone recovering from surgery who has been told not to lift.
If you are arranging service for a parent or a relative who lives here while you live somewhere else, that is a common request and we are used to coordinating with someone who is not on site. Billing, scheduling and updates can all go to you while the work happens at their address.
No. Once your property is on a route, service is triggered automatically by accumulation, normally at two inches. That is the whole point of the arrangement. You should not have to think about snow at all.
Both, if your agreement includes them. A plow truck cannot clear a set of front steps or a narrow walkway, so those are finished by hand and treated with ice melt. Most residential customers include the front walk and steps.
Cost depends on driveway size and shape, whether walks and steps are included, and whether you choose a seasonal contract or per-storm billing. We quote after looking at the actual property, because a straight two-car driveway in Latham and a long curved rural approach in Averill Park are very different jobs.
We do a pre-season site walk specifically to prevent this, marking edges, septic lids, irrigation heads and any spot where pavement is hard to see under snow. On properties with soft edges we stake the driveway line so the operator has a visual reference in the dark.
Yes, and it is one of the more common reasons people sign up. An unshoveled driveway and an unbroken snow cover are a clear signal to anyone watching that a house is empty. We keep the property looking lived in and accessible for anyone who needs to get to it.
Residential routes typically run overnight and in the early morning so driveways are open for the commute. During long storms we make more than one pass rather than waiting for it to finish and trying to move the whole accumulation at once.
We provide residential snow removal in 32 towns and cities across six counties. A few of the busiest:
