Plow trucks staged before the first flake, routes running through the night, and a cleared property before you need to leave.
Frosty Snow Management plows driveways, parking lots and private roads across the Capital Region on a storm trigger, typically two inches of accumulation. Crews run through the night so properties are open before the morning commute. Seasonal contracts and per-storm service are both available.
Plowing is the part of snow management people notice most, and the part that goes wrong most often. A plow that shows up late leaves you stuck in the driveway. A plow that pushes snow into the wrong place blocks the garage you just paid to have cleared. A plow that skips the edges leaves a rut that freezes solid by Tuesday and stays there until March.
Frosty Snow Management runs plow routes across Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady and Saratoga counties with trucks assigned to fixed routes so the same operator sees the same property all season. That operator learns where your septic lids are, where the pavement drops off, which side of the lot you want stacked, and how early your first employee arrives. That knowledge is what separates a plow service from a plow truck.
We plow on a trigger, not on a guess. When accumulation reaches the agreed depth, usually two inches, the route activates automatically. You do not have to call. During long-duration storms we return as often as the property needs so snow never gets deep enough to require a second machine.
Our plow fleet handles residential driveways from single-car to long rural approaches, commercial parking lots, apartment and townhome complexes, private roads and shared drives, medical and professional office lots, retail plazas, warehouse and industrial yards, and municipal-adjacent private ways.
Crews are assigned and staged 24 to 48 hours ahead of a forecast event. Salt is loaded, blades are on, and route sheets are printed before the first flake.
At the contracted accumulation depth, the route activates. No phone call required. Commercial properties with early open times are sequenced first.
Snow goes to the stacking areas agreed at the site walk, never against the garage, never across the sidewalk you just paid to have cleared, never blocking a hydrant or a dumpster.
On multi-inch events crews cycle back so accumulation never exceeds what a plow can move cleanly. This is what keeps a 14 inch storm from turning into an ice pack.
After the snow stops we square up edges, clear the plow ridge at the apron, and salt the surfaces that need it before refreeze.
Every property we take on gets a site walk before the season. We mark hydrants, curb lines, drains, islands, septic components, irrigation heads and low pavement. We agree on stacking areas that will not block sightlines at the exit, will not melt across a walkway and refreeze overnight, and will not eat the parking spaces you need in February after five storms have stacked up.
On tight commercial lots where there is genuinely nowhere left to put snow by midwinter, we quote snow relocation or hauling so the lot keeps its capacity. Property managers who have run out of room in a bad February know exactly why this matters.
Seasonal contracts give you a fixed price for the whole winter regardless of how many storms arrive. They make budgeting predictable and they put you at the front of the route. Per-storm billing charges by the event and suits properties with lighter needs or owners who prefer to pay only when it snows.
For commercial clients we also write per-event contracts with separate line items for plowing, sidewalks and salting, which is the structure most property managers and insurers prefer because it documents exactly what was done and when.
Our standard trigger is two inches of accumulation, which activates the route automatically without you calling. Commercial clients often set a one inch trigger for lots that must stay open during business hours, and we can write any trigger depth into the contract.
Residential driveways are typically cleared overnight or in the early morning so you can leave on time. Commercial properties are sequenced by opening hour, so a 6 AM retail lot is serviced before an 9 AM office. During long storms we make multiple passes.
Both. On storms over roughly six inches we plow during the event and return afterward for cleanup, because moving snow in stages is faster and cleaner than trying to move a foot at once. On smaller events we usually make a single pass after the snow stops.
Yes. The berm the municipal plow leaves across your apron is part of the job on every visit. If the town plow comes back after we have already been there, contact us and we will return to reopen the apron.
Yes. We handle private roads, shared drives, HOA lanes and condo complexes across all four core Capital Region counties. These need a site walk before the season so we can agree on turnaround points, stacking areas and how the road is sequenced against resident parking.
We mark hazards during the pre-season site walk specifically to avoid this, and we stake edges where pavement is hard to see under snow. We are fully insured, and if something is damaged we document it and make it right rather than arguing about it in April.
